Fix My Pool!

Swimming pools although great fun can be dangerous if not kept in good repair.
A properly maintained pool is comprised of a safe structure.

Our Automatic Safety Cover

Swimming pools are great fun! Family fun, private intimate relaxation, personal fitness, plus all those great pool side cookout meals. Unfortunately swimming pools can also be dangerous if not properly secured. Tragically each year children drown in unsecured and/or unsupervised swimming pools. Sadly these deaths are entirely preventable.

An automatic swimming pool cover completely secures a swimming pool in a few minutes. Fences, gates, motion alarms are helpful but they do not completely the sight of or block access to the pool. An automatic pool cover inhibits the attraction of the pool. Seeing the cool flowing water in the pool is appealing and has a powerful draw which is why insurance agents identify a swimming pool as an “ attractive nuisance “.

When I told my wife that I wanted to install a swimming pool for my newborn daughter to enjoy and grow up with she replied “ that’s fine but don’t bother if your not going to install an automatic safety cover”. Her position was not up for discussion. The pool was installed along with an automatic safety cover.

Automatic safety covers offer so much more than the peace of mind knowing that your pool is safe and secure. The significantly reduce water loss, chemicals and heat due to evaporation. If a storm comes up you simply turn a key and the pool will remain protected and clean from all of the airborne debris, leafs, branches, dirt, etc.

The peace of mind on knowing that your pool is safe and secure whether your home or out of town is priceless!

The deck must be free of trip hazards, offer a non skid surface and have no open cracks where water can puddle and bacteria can grow. The pool interior should be smooth and clean and provide a safe surface for swimmer’s feet. A rough or jagged surface is abrasive and can cause young feet to bleed. Safety markings indicating the water depth or no diving areas should be present and clearly visible.

The pool water should be clear so that one can clearly see the main drain in the floor of the deep end while standing on the pool deck. Properly balanced pool water ensures the water is clean and safe for swimmers at all times. A properly sized filtration and sanitation system is key in the successful operation of a clean and safe pool. A leaking or cracked pool causes continuous water loss and is almost impossible to balance the water. The makeup water added to replace the leaking water along with the added pool chemicals needed to sanitize and balance the water is expensive, wasteful, and often results in cloudy, unsanitary and unsafe water.

Electrical service which includes handrail, ladder, and all metals bonding to ground, current to operate the pool’s equipment must be installed and inspected due to the incredible danger of electrocution. Many pools with in pool lighting have lights that are powered by 120 volt circuits. When new these 120 volt lights are well sealed and are inspected for a properly made sealed ground and powered by a mandantory GFCI circuit. After being submerged in a swimming pool that is chemically balanced and sanitized using chemicals such as chlorine and acid the bond can be dissolved, the GFCI bypassed which makes the 120 volt in pool light a very real danger! We suggest that if you have 120 volt lights that you have them professionally inspected yearly or replaced with a suitable 12 volt replacement.
